WHO AM I?

My name is Sarah Gutek. I am a 4th year student at the University of Regina pursuing my bachelor's degree in Education. While completing my degree I have also been fortunate enough to fill the role of Program and Administrative Support assistant at the 15 Wing MFRC. When I am not studying or working, I also enjoy teaching piano to a small group of students.

I was born in Red Deer, Alberta, but I was raised throughout Saskatchewan in places like Cut Knife, Melville, and most recently Moose Jaw. In 2020 I graduated from Cornerstone Christian School and started studying part-time during the summer while working.

I have two wonderful parents (Dawn and Michel, pictured below) as well as a wonderful younger sister, older brother, and sister-in-law. In addition to my family, I also have a one-eyed dog named Bea, two cats, and a myriad of fish. I enjoy playing the piano and reading historical fiction books. I love to biking, kayak and canoe during the summer, and I love hiking year-round.

Throughout high school, I was an active part of several extracurriculars and I have had several volunteer opportunities to grow. I have stage managed and been part of several musicals and drama productions over the years. I also was a part of my school's leadership team as well as the city of Moose Jaw's youth advisory committee.  In the last year, I was also able to manage a worship team, plan a virtual prom (with SLN), and work on a mental health advocacy program for the City of Moose Jaw.

Looking back on my time in school, I cherish the community that I was able to be a part of throughout my time in several different schools. I hope to be a part of making sure every student feels like they belong in a community. Through private tutoring that I have done, I have learned that each student is unique and their own learning journeys are a beautiful part of their lives. I am so excited to be a part of that experience for many more students.
