I built a shelf & found a skeleton

So, reading week. What a great time to catch up on homework and maybe do a little extra for my learning project, right? Wrong. I did very little of this learning project over the break. I planned on using TikTok for my learning this week and found some really great pages and information, and will link the accounts below, but I have got some serious creative block.

I stat down for maybe 5 hours over the last two weeks to play anything at all. Any suggestions to get over this?

TikTok creators for Jazz Piano:

These are some seriously talented creators and musicians, so I would highly recommend giving them a like and a follow.

I played through the minor and pentatonic scales when I did sit down to practice, and had some fun with swinging the beat, but nothing big really happened. I guess that is the way learning goes sometimes.

Also, this blog is starting to feel very home like to me, hence the title, as I thought I would share with you all some more exciting things that have happened this past few weeks.

Firstly, I started refinishing a shelf and doing some crafts. I learned how to make pom poms and have been obsessed with making wreaths. Thank you Pinterest. And I learned how to apply peel and stick vinal. The shelf isn't done, but it is starting to look cute.

Also, I went for a walk with my dog and found a deer spine and ribs, so that was inserting. Really makes you think about the cycle of life. Who knows, maybe I'll use this as inspiration for some sad jazz improv this next week.

Mary Crisis

Like I tell my piano students- December means Christmas music time. For me, these songs were the culmination of what I've learned this...

Swing Low... I'm crying now

Swing low, sweat chariot. I didn't realize this until a conversation I had with my mum today, but she would occasionally sing this song...

My best suggestions for getting over creative block were exactly what you did over the break! Take time away from your project and reconnect with your family and environment. Then just giving yourself time to play around on the piano, whether it sounds nice or not! Who knows you might just find the perfect notes?scales? (Idk anything about music) for an original song!
