Swing low, sweat chariot.
I didn't realize this until a conversation I had with my mum today, but she would occasionally sing this song to us kids when we were really little. This week was packed with emotions as I played.
Although not traditionally considered jazz, and normally done in a Reggae style, I think it is fitting for this week.
I watched the documentary Blue Notes Records Beyond the Notes back in my grade 11 music class, and this was the first time I had seen the relationships between the civil rights movement and jazz music.
When I watched it again last week it reminded me of what playing songs from the past can be. So I gave it my best shot. This weeks learning wasn't as activate as some other weeks, but I think it is important to sit in meditation on some topics to learn what wisdom they hold best.
Here's my version of Sing Low, Sweet Chariot
