Is Anything Actually Real- Scott Cramer Response

I stumbled onto this video just casually watching Youtube recently. It talks about Reality TV and the way in which people might react to it. I think he brings up some intresting points around ethics of reality of these shows. I think these are important to note, as well as the intentions behind what people are posting and creating in the media. It is important for students to understand what the intentions are behind whatever media they are using for knowledge gain.

Like the NCTE says, learners have to be critical of the media they are consuming and why they are consuming it. This is to say, that although I think Scott Cramer's points are intresting food for thought, I know that I am watching commentary, therefore I am not watching for facts, but rather for entertainment and to think critically on this matter in other ways.

The most important thing we can teach kids is critical thinking and evaluation of media. Content always has a reason behind it, and looking at any media with little bias to see where it fits into the context of gaining new knowledge is one way in which we can better equip students to handle themselves within the ever growing mass media circus they are exposed to.
